الملخص

In this study four samples of ground water were collected from Abo-Zabad  area (Abo-Zabad City, Garelasal Village, Abo-Galeb village and Khammas Elduonky village) West Kordofan State  and  analyses were performed the following: (pH, EC, TDS), anions : ( Cl-  , SO4-2 ,CO3-2 and HCO3- ), hardness as CaCO3, cations: (Na+, K+ and Ca+2 ). The results showed that the pH values for all the samples fall between (7.9-8.4) hence all the samples were alkaline (pH > 7). The results of electrical conductivity (EC) for all the samples between (132-635 µmohs/cm. The total dissolved solids (TDS) values for all the samples between (79 - 381 ppm). The results of chloride ion (Cl-) concentration for all the samples falls between (16.4-82 ppm). The results showed that the concentration of sulphate ion (SO4-2) for all the samples between (0.08 - 0.329 ppm). The results showed that the concentration of carbonate ion (CO3-2) for all the samples between (102-198 ppm). Also the results showed that the concentration of bicarbonate ion (HCO3-) for all the samples between (117.6-253.1ppm) in permissible level of WHO standards (500 ppm). For hardness, two samples (150-160 ppm) (A and B) water of (Abo-Zabad City and Garelasal Village)  were classified as moderately hard respectively and other two samples (20 -290 ppm) (C and D) water of (Abo-Galeb village and Khammas Elduonky village) were classified as hard respectively. The concentration of cations: Na+ between(13.66 – 39.8 ppm), K+  between (3.11 - 4.20 ppm) and Ca+2 between(88- 120 ppm) for all the samples were within the permissible level of WHO standards (200 ppm Na+, 10 ppm K+ and 200ppm Ca+2). From the study all water samples were accepted for all purposes.
